Though gold and long your summers been
The land can’t always stay so green
Midsummer’s sun has made his round
Lured the life out of the ground
Late in June we crowned this king
Passed the mantle on from spring
From time of growth to time of bliss
The warmth of summer’s lazy kiss

Make your choice and find your voice
We all rejoice that in summer’s noise
Perhaps the country is for you
Rambling off to somewhere new
Under rock and over field
Summers bounties always yield
Some prefer the sparkling sea
Feet up, laid back, sip chai tea
Watching as the tide recedes
Free of worries wants or needs
Dragging feet from raft in lake
Is the path that others take?
Silver minnows swim below
Life is good when life is slow

But summers pace isn’t all sedate
What mischief can we all create?
When we converge in eager state
And wonder what will be our fate
Out the back of local pub
It’s going off, a social hub
A chance encounter in the park
What misdemeanours will it spark?
But most of all what summer brings
The highlight of the song it sings
Directly south as the crow flies
We speed towards our paradise

Embraced warmly at the gates
The energy reverberates
The airs alive with love and life
And all the party bags are rife
A veritable audial feast
So tap the keg, unleash the beast
Tribal trips and muddy slips
Audacious things that pass from lips
A place to free your inhibitions
Twisted, bouncing intuitions
Although there is a line maybe
Like giving certain men a baby
Solo skywalking for yoda
Catch some Woosey on a sofa
Morning healing fields a must
Clean off all that early rust

You leave the campsite lo’ its dusk
The butterfly out from the husk
Into the wild, the shrub, the bush
The forests canopy so lush
And so in these enchanted woods
The flowers burst from all our buds
The outside world all but forgotten
For in these woods no fruit is rotten
Alas we must return to site
The place we lived while all was right
For him and her and hawklords too
The time to leave is almost due
Yet fear not the time beyond
The memories are never gone

Short as summer nights may be
Unfettered fun will set you free
And now we hear summers sigh
As autumn winds are rising high
We look towards the year ahead
Each moving on, new paths to tread
Summers laughter cruising south
To spill out from another’s mouth
Yet one and all we won’t forget
As once again were in life’s net
That magic time it will be back
So don’t lose contact with your pack.
